To ask the Scottish Government whether the CalMac ferry service between Campbeltown and Ardrossan, which has not operated since Summer 2022, will return in Summer 2027.
Answer
Having examined the possible service, vessel and infrastructure options, it has become clear that any reinstatement would present significant challenges in terms of network resilience, vessel availability, affordability, value for money and longer-term sustainability. The difficult decision has therefore been taken that the Campbeltown ferry service should not be reinstated for Summer 2027. Longer term reinstatement will depend on future consideration of fleet renewal and port infrastructure investment. I have asked officials to work towards developing options for delivering a service in future years beyond 2027.

To ask the Scottish Government what discussions it has had with Glasgow City Council and the Glasgow City Region Bus Partnership regarding the delivery of bus priority measures on Pollokshaws Road, and what assessment it has made of the potential economic benefits of such measures for communities and businesses in the southside of Glasgow.
Answer
As advised in the chamber by MSP Tom Arthur, Minister for Business and Fair Work, on 10 September, I met with Councillor Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, on 8 July. During that meeting, she highlighted the strong partnerships Glasgow and other local authorities have developed with bus operators through the Glasgow Bus Partnership, as well as plans to introduce bus priority measures on key corridors across the city.
Through our Bus Infrastructure Fund, we have provided funding to support the development of bus priority measures on Pollokshaws Road, including corridor design work and AI-enabled traffic signal improvements. The supporting business case identifies opportunities to improve connectivity, increase access to jobs and services, reduce congestion, and deliver benefits for local communities and businesses.
