Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government, further to Freedom of Information request FOI/202400419507, whether the meeting between the then Deputy First Minister and the WAVE Trust on 1 June 2022 (a) followed an offer to make a charitable donation or (b) was arranged entirely independently of any such offer, and whether it will review its guidance to ensure there can be no perception that access to Scottish Ministers may be influenced by financial offers, including those intended for charitable purposes.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it considers that offers of charitable donations linked to requests for meetings with Scottish Ministers are compatible with the Ministerial Code, and what guidance is provided to ministers and officials on how they should respond when such offers are made.

To ask the Scottish Government what action it will take to improve patient safety for children when blood gas testing identifies abnormal results such as  significantly raised lactate levels, including whether it will introduce a national patient safety standard requiring abnormal blood gas or blood test results in children to be repeated, verified or formally reviewed before discharge decisions are made where those results have been attributed to sample quality, environmental factors or other concerns about reliability.

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of the number of people diagnosed with ME and long COVID and recognising that early diagnosis and appropriate care can improve outcomes for recovery or long-term disability, whether it will commit to providing ringfenced funds to set up specialist clinics staffed by either a nurse practitioner or medical staff in each NHS board area.
