To ask the Scottish Government how many probationer teachers have been placed in each of the last three years, also broken down by local authority.

The Scottish Government works closely with the General Teaching Council for Scotland to administer the Teacher Induction Scheme and allocate eligible probationer teachers to every Local Authority each year.

The following table indicates the total number of probationers placed in each Local Authority for the last three years:

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S5W-12220 by John Swinney on 7 November 2017, on what date the cabinet secretary instructed his officials to engage with each of the organisations.

As detailed in the response to S5W-12220 the Scottish Government has continued stakeholder engagement since the introduction of the Children and Young People (Information Sharing) (Scotland) Bill in June 2017.

As I set out in my letter to the Education and Skills Committee on 15 March 2018, it is entirely right and proper for the Scottish Government to discuss policy options with stakeholders throughout the passage of the Information Sharing Bill. I discuss stakeholder engagement with officials on an on-going basis and am and remain fully aware of engagement undertaken by officials in relation to the Bill.
