Academic Fellowship Scheme

The purpose of the Scottish Parliament is to hold the Scottish Government to account, to scrutinise legislation and to represent the people of Scotland by debating issues of national importance.

The Academic Fellowship Scheme, which is managed and hosted by the Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe), enables academics to work on projects with the Parliament in support of this purpose.

The scheme aims to:

  • provide the Parliament with specialised resources which allow it to undertake and communicate analysis which would otherwise not be possible
  • increase the use of academic knowledge, skills and research within the Parliament
  • promote knowledge and understanding of the Parliament within the academic sector.

We are now inviting bids via the online application form below for the following topics:

The potential start dates are included in the individual adverts for each topic.

In addition, we also invite bids through an open call, where we request proposals from academics on any relevant topic. This year the application process for the open call is more streamlined. Applicants for the open call do not need to fill in the online application form. Instead, please email us a one-page document outlining a proposed project, and also a cv.

The deadline for submitting bids is Friday 21 April 2023 at 5.00pm.
