That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the Ayrshire-wide service, Improving the Cancer Journey; understands that the service is a partnership between the Scottish Government and Macmillan Cancer Support with East, South and North Ayrshire’s health and social care partnerships and NHS Ayrshire and Arran; recognises that the £1.1 million service will support cancer patients and their families in Ayrshire and Arran by providing emotional and wellbeing assistance; notes that the initiative is already in place in other parts of Scotland; understands that approximately 2,621 people are diagnosed with cancer in Ayrshire and Arran each year, and believes that this service has the potential to make a positive difference for those affected by cancer.
