That the Parliament congratulates Mearns Academy, which is in Laurencekirk, on its recent positive inspection by Education Scotland; notes that the report highlights very positive and mutually respectful relationships across the school, which supports calm and positive learning environments, ensuring that young people feel valued and ready to learn; acknowledges the report’s recognition that Mearns Academy’s well-respected headteacher, supported by senior leaders, has fostered a strong culture of leadership at all levels, enabling increasing numbers of staff and young people to take on leadership roles and contribute to positive change within the school community; notes the report’s acknowledgement of the school’s very nurturing and inclusive ethos, including effective partnership working to support the wellbeing of young people, particularly those who may face barriers to learning and participation; further notes the report’s emphasis on the school’s strong commitment to equality and diversity; recognises that it identifies areas for improvement to support continued progress, and wishes the pupils, staff and the wider school community every success as they continue to build on these strengths.
